Hyundai Heavy Industries undertakes the development project of “21-ton cordless excavator”, replacing electricity with electricity, reducing the use cost up to 60%, and is expected to achieve “zero emissions”.

The world's first modern heavy 21-ton electric excavator

As the only national-level project selected by the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the “21-ton cordless excavator” project will receive a USD 120 billion investment from the Korean government by 2016. The new excavator will use electricity to replace oil, greatly reducing the dependence on energy and consumption, and reducing the cost of use by up to 60%. More importantly, the 21-ton cordless excavator developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries is able to reach the “zero emission” standard and achieve “energy saving and environmental protection” in the true sense.
With the shortage of resources and outstanding environmental problems, the development of this new excavator will lead the 21-ton excavator, which is widely used, into a new era.
According to industry insiders, the global electric excavator market will reach 13.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2020 and 30 billion U.S. dollars by 2024. The advent of new products based on modern Hyundai Heavy Industry is expected to reach 20% market share in 2024, with an estimated sales of US$5.7 billion.
In addition, Hyundai Heavy Industries continues to develop cutting-edge technology and high-tech construction equipment, leading the world construction equipment market. In the second half of this year, Hyundai Heavy Industries will launch a Hi-Mate service that uses mobile phones to confirm equipment failures or parts update time.
