On the evening of July 6, with the successful installation of the No. 7 propeller weighing 55 tons, the installation of the eight propulsion units of the “Offshore Oil 981” platform during offshore commissioning was successfully completed. Since then, the “flagship” of this CNOOC deep-water fleet has “legs that can run on its own”. During the installation, the platform also completed the first typhoon avoidance work.
The installation work was carried out in the East China Sea and lasted for one month. It was completed by the CNOOC Engineering Project Team and the Production Preparation Team with the support of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard and Shanghai Salvage Bureau.
According to the law of sea water flow in the East China Sea, divers are mostly installed in the early hours of the morning. During the operation, the hot and foggy climate of the East China Sea has brought difficulties to equipment maintenance. After the platform arrives at the anchorage, the production preparation team performs careful operation and maintenance on the commissioned equipment according to the offshore management agreement of the platform, and fully supports the installation of the platform thruster.
At the end of the installation of No. 4 propeller, “Offshore Oil 981” ushered in the challenge of typhoon for the first time. In the face of the attack on the fifth typhoon "Mire" this year, the platform immediately launched the typhoon emergency procedure. All the staff of the whole staff worked together to complete the installation of the No. 4 propeller before the typhoon, and successfully completed the first evasion. Typhoon work has accumulated useful experience for future typhoon avoidance operations.
The successful installation of the propeller provides a guarantee for the dynamic positioning of the platform and lays a solid foundation for the upcoming joint commissioning and sea-going operations at sea.
