Delivery Environmental Monitoring Network Planning Preparation Startup

On July 23, the Department of Integrated Planning of the Ministry of Transport organized the launch of the traffic environment monitoring network plan preparation and experience exchange meeting in Taiyuan, Shanxi. The meeting reviewed the current situation and major problems faced by the industry's environmental monitoring work, clarified the next phase of work priorities, and reached a consensus on the orderly promotion of the province's two-level environmental monitoring network planning and the construction of an environmental monitoring network.

The construction of environmental monitoring network is one of the major environmental protection projects in the “12th Five-Year Plan” of the transportation industry. The Ministry of Transport will study and propose the overall layout of the monitoring network, rely on the existing information network foundation, and build the Ministry of Transport Environmental Data Center and the Provincial Transport Environmental Monitoring Center Station; select regional key constructions that are sensitive to the environment or have a certain working basis. The monitoring stations of highways and ports have initially formed a scientific network with a reasonable level of transportation and environmental monitoring.

As of 2011, a total of 25 environmental monitoring stations have been built in the national transportation industry. This is far from the actual demand of the industry development level and environmental protection management. The National Highway Water Transport Environmental Monitoring Network Master Plan will scientifically determine the positioning, functions, and objectives of the monitoring network, proposes a layout plan for the monitoring network, and proposes safeguards such as organization, policies, systems, funds, personnel, technology, supervision, and assessment. . The provinces will also study and formulate provincial-level industry environmental monitoring network planning work to achieve the convergence and linkage of ministry planning.

The Department of Planning has entrusted the Ministry of Planning to carry out the overall planning and research work on the National Highway Waterway Transport Environmental Monitoring Network.
