BorgWarner's PSG combines a durable steel heating rod with a pressure sensor that only shines at the top. The integrated sensor effectively regulates the combustion process within the closed loop system. The integrated sensor reports data to the engine control unit (ECU) to adjust the fuel injection amount and timing for each cylinder in real time. In addition, with its rugged mechanical design, the PSG resists extreme temperatures, severe vibrations and extreme pressure conditions inside the cylinder head. With these advanced designs, automakers are able to achieve higher peak pressures in smaller engines, bring the combustion process closer to its limits, and ensure stable emissions control to meet current and future environmental regulations.
