Recently, ABB announced the acquisition of Los Gatos Research (LGR), adding a new high-performance gas analyzer product line to its measurement business unit.
LGR now has 40 employees and the company’s revenue is expected to be around US$14 million in 2013. It is reported that LGR employees will join the global measurement product business unit of ABB's Process Automation Division. Since its creation in 1994, LGR has been developing innovative laser measurement technologies and applying it to various gases, liquids, and solids. At present, the company mainly provides analysis instruments and services to customers engaged in trace gas real-time measurement, isotope research, and environmental monitoring.
LGR laser trace gas and stable isotope analysis instrument is based on off-axis integrated cavity output spectrum (OA-ICOS) technology. Compared with other traditional sampling methods and laser technology, this technology has higher sensitivity, precision and Accuracy.
The specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed but it is expected to end in the third quarter of 2013.
